EU AI Act Life Science initiative, initiated by Q4BS, aims to understand and establish compliant and trustworthy AI usage within the life sciences industry. Given that the life sciences sector is highly regulated and directly impacts patient health, it is crucial to assess the systematic risks associated with AI models and implement appropriate safeguards. Through our Consulting on Demand service, this project will develop another business solution specifically tailored to ensure compliance with the EU AI Act in the Life Science industry.
With the enforcement of the EU AI Act, strict regulations are now in place governing the use of Artificial Intelligence in industry. The Act introduces a risk classification system for AI, ranging from low to high risk. High-risk systems, especially those influencing decisions in critical areas like healthcare, transportation, or business management, are subject to stringent requirements. These include obligations for transparency, documentation, regular audits, and compliance measures.
For Life Science and Healthcare business, this imposes a significant responsibility to classify and adapt their AI systems according to the new legal standards. This initiative plays a crucial role in creating trustworthy and legally compliant AI usage in this industry.
Update 10/16/2024: Q4BS to draw first GPAI Code of Practice
Following our application we are today be seen as eligible experts in drawing together the first EU AI Act General-purpose Code of Practice with a great community. We appreciate this opportunity by the European Artificial Intelligence Office to engage with General-purpose AI systems in view of Life Science business.
Update 10/15/2024: Q4BS engages with safe and responsible AI in Life Science
European Medicines Agency (EMA) and Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA) are hosting a workshop on AI: HMA/EMA multi-stakeholder workshop on artificial intelligence (AI) - enabling the safe and responsible use of AI.
We clearly see AI systems making manufacturing of drugs faster, more safe and assure a high quality, but human-centric approaches, transparent decision-making and solid risk management for this AI systems is mandatory. Together with our partners and our recently founded innovation entity we are developing a MESH Xi LS system using hybrid intelligence dedicated for Life Science purpose.
